Hi, my name is Gwynne Lowther. I founded Dogs and Kids UK because I want to help transform the relationship between you and your dog(s) and in particular between your children and your dogs.

While working with my own dogs, I became aware of just how many children are afraid of dogs or worse – are subject to vicious dog attacks.

Dogs are everywhere these days and it is difficult for children to avoid contact with them, whether or not they have any at home. To me dog communication is an essential life skill, as is personal development, and I have brought both of these together.

It is my passion to help you and your children learn to better understand and communicate with dogs, so that you can develop safer relationships with them… and so that the potential for a vicious dog attack does not have to be part your experience!

Safe relationships, safe children, safe dogs!

A particular objective in my method is to “get out of your own way!” Let’s lose the judgement, fear, labels and stories that we have been carrying and repeating about ourselves and our dog friends, and replace these with only positive thoughts and words.

Dogs know how you are feeling, they can sense it. So if you are worried about anything while you are in contact with a dog, they will pick that up and can reflect it in their own attitude.

I firmly believe that what we focus on is what we get – in other words there is ‘attraction’ with action! If we believe (or fear) that our dogs will behave badly, we are probably right and if we believe we can’t do anything about it, we are probably right there too!

In the words of Henry Ford “If you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right!”

When I first started on my quest to change some behaviour in my dogs, I realised that the so-called ‘best practices’ of the past really didn’t work when it came to finding a quick solution to a dog behaviour ‘problem’. So I started a quest to search out the best, most effective, techniques, tips and tricks that really work, and it was that journey that quickly led to the founding of Dogs and Kids UK.

I am continually researching, studying, learning, trying out and honing new techniques to HELP YOU to achieve the best results!

I have always loved dogs, some things will never change, and have been involved with various breeds for most of my life, right now I have two beautiful border collie girls.

I am originally from the North East of England and we had a dog of some sort or other for most of my growing up and I know now that my father provided great leadership for them. When I left home I had dogs of my own and did my best to ensure that they were ‘under control’ — looking back, I know that I could have done a whole lot better. When I haven’t had dogs of my own, I have been baby sitting and house sitting other peoples!

Although when I was at school I wanted to be an Art Teacher (art was my best subject), through accident of circumstances my first career was as a Chartered Accountant and I spent 10 years in that profession before I studied for and achieved an MBA.

During this masters degree course, I learned a lot about not only what made me tick in my particular way, but about what makes other people tick and therefore how to better understand why we all behave the way we do.

I began a continuing personal transformation journey and came to believe that if these skills were taught in schools society would be very different … children would be empowered with self-leadership qualities and the knowledge that they are all co-creators in this life.

For most of my career I have been a Management Consultant and business Project Manager, helping individuals, teams and businesses in their transformations and applying the methods and tools I learned as part of my own journey.

It has been a very natural thing for me to develop these skills in relation to dog behaviour transformation, and for me this is much more fun and rewarding.

You could say I am dedicated to helping you improve your relationship with your dog through self help techniques and positive thinking…

I just love getting up in the morning to knowing I can be of service.

It is my personal goal to help YOU believe in the possibility for a safe and magnificent future together for you, your children and your dogs!
